Oct 30, 2026: a gap up on the third quarter
Regeneron reported before the open. Premarket trading began at $833.50 at 4:10am and rose to $887.00 by 8:05am. The stock opened at $869.43, fell to $839.08 in the first five minutes as the market sold off, then climbed to $935.35 by 9:40am, up 14.2%. It was $913.33 at 11:45am, on 1.4 million shares, already 2.2 times its 20-day average for a full day.
What happened:
- Sanofi profit share stepped up. Sanofi collaboration revenue was $2.724 billion against $1.617 billion a year earlier. Dupixent sales, which Sanofi records, rose 35% to $6.5 billion. The CFO called it the "anticipated step-up" in the first full quarter after the Development Balance was repaid.
- Three drugs set records. EYLEA HD U.S. sales rose 62% to $699 million, Libtayo rose 51% to $550 million, and Dupixent set its own high. The original EYLEA fell 41% to $400 million, so the U.S. EYLEA franchise was down 1% to $1.099 billion.
- A bigger Sanofi deal. Regeneron added four next-generation, long-acting immunology antibodies to the alliance, for $1.0 billion up front, to be booked as revenue in the fourth quarter, and up to $7.0 billion in milestones.
- A new approval. The FDA approved Pasatru (garetosmab) for fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva, a rare bone disease.
- Better margins. The company raised its 2026 non-GAAP gross margin guide to about 86% from 84% to 85% and cut its non-GAAP SG&A guide to $2.40 billion to $2.50 billion, from $2.50 billion to $2.60 billion. It raised non-GAAP R&D to $6.05 billion to $6.15 billion.
From the Oct 29 close, at about 11:45am:

| Eli Lilly (LLY) | $1,373.70 | $1,423.14 | +3.6% |
| Sanofi (SNY) | $43.13 | $44.51 | +3.2% |

| Health care fund (XLV) | $184.04 | $185.44 | +0.8% |
Large drugmakers rose as money left technology, but Regeneron rose three to seven times as far as its peers. Sanofi gained too, since the same Dupixent numbers drive its results. More of the day's swings are in today's biggest stock moves.
After the jump, RSI(14) stood at 78, the shares sat 15% above their 50-day average and 24% above their 200-day average, and the stock was 2.2% below its new 52-week high. These are context, not signals.
What the numbers say
The quarter is a reset of the earnings base. Until June, Regeneron's share of Sanofi profits was reduced to pay back its share of development costs. That ended with the second quarter, and the effect showed at once: total collaboration revenue rose to $3.0 billion from $1.97 billion. Our explainer on normalized earnings covers why a change like this matters more than a one-off beat.
On product sales, the picture is mixed. Total net product sales rose 14% to $1.8 billion. EYLEA HD is replacing the original drug, but combined U.S. EYLEA sales still slipped 1%, and the release cited "continued competitive pressures." Libtayo, the cancer drug, is now a $2.2 billion annual run rate.
At $913.33 the market value is about $94 billion. Trailing earnings put the stock at about 19.5 times, and annualizing the third quarter's $20.07 gives about $80 a share, or about 11 times. The consensus target before today was $853.63, with a range of $750 to $1,030. Our guide to forward and trailing P/E explains why an annualized quarter is a rough guide when one partner drives most of the profit.
The bull case
- Recurring profit. The Sanofi step-up repeats every quarter while Dupixent grows.
- Three growing drugs. EYLEA HD, Libtayo and Dupixent all grew 35% or more.
- Cash and buybacks. Regeneron had $2.2 billion left on its buyback authorization at Sep 30 and declared a $0.94 quarterly dividend.
- A near catalyst. The cemdisiran decision is due next month. Our guide to FDA decision dates explains how these dates move stocks.
- Analyst momentum. UBS upgraded the stock to Buy on Oct 15, and TD Cowen and Canaccord kept Buy ratings in the two weeks before the report.
The risks
- Partner concentration. More than half of revenue now comes from the Sanofi alliance, and Dupixent faces patent expiry in 2031, Seeking Alpha noted in its preview.
- The old EYLEA. Sales fell 41% and the franchise is shrinking overall in the U.S.
- A one-time fourth quarter. The $1.0 billion up-front payment will inflate fourth-quarter revenue and earnings and will make next year's comparison harder.
- The price has passed the targets. The stock is about 7% above the consensus target. Our piece on estimate revisions covers how quickly targets usually follow.
What comes next
The FDA decision on cemdisiran in generalized myasthenia gravis is the next dated event, expected in November. After that come the Ordspono decision in lymphoma in February 2027 and a Libtayo dosing decision in March 2027. The fourth-quarter report in late January or early February will show the first full quarter of the new Sanofi deal.
